We have been working with the Winnetka Park District since Fall 2018 to add two additional courts to our facility. The courts will be constructed to the west of our hut and we will add significant decking to enable viewing of Courts 7 and 8 and to provide additional space for our members to gather and socialize.
We envision three phases to this expansion:
Phase 1 will be the construction of the two courts and we hope to complete this in Fall 2021. The WPD initial budget is $395,000 for Phase 1 and WPTC is tasked with raising 100% of this amount. So far we have raised $225,000 during the private phase of our fundraising and our public phase begins June 15th. We plan to auction Extended Memberships and Lifetime Memberships as well to sell commemorative bricks for $500 (Individual) and $750 (Family). We hope you will help us to achieve our fundraising goals and by bidding on Extended Memberships and/or purchasing commemorative bricks.
Phase 2 will be the construction of the decking and grill area with a proposed firepit. A utility easement with a third-party Cell Tower company will need to be addressed before we begin construction of Phase 2. If we can clear this easement issue quickly we will begin construction ASAP.
Phase 3 will be an expansion of our Hut. With a total of eight courts and an increase in membership, we expect we will need to expand the hut. Final designs and fundraising for the hut expansion will occur at a future date.
